One of the biggest cybersecurity operators in the business, CrowdStrike, released a software upgrade on 19th July 2024 that caused system issues that resulted in aircraft cancellations, broadcasters being forced to halt operations, and customers losing access to services like banking and healthcare. Major interruptions were experienced by global shipper FedEx, major airlines like American Airlines, Delta Airlines, etc., and certain moderators who oversee content on Meta's Facebook page were targeted.

George Kurtz, the CEO of CrowdStrike, announced on social media site X that Microsoft clients were impacted by a flaw discovered "in a single content update for Windows hosts."

The recent global IT outage was one of the most disruptive events in recent years. It affected major internet service providers, cloud services, and data centers worldwide. This widespread failure affected the Windows system, resulting in a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) that interrupted operations and the use of Microsoft Systems.
